I am Stephanie K. Watkins PhD. I am 36 years old, a scientist and mother of two. I first received my bachelor’s degree in biology at Bellarmine University in Louisville Ky in 2003. I went on to graduate school at the University of Louisville, School of Medicine and received a Masters of Science (MS) and finally a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees 2005 and 2007 respectively for my research and thesis in Cancer Immunology. In 2007, my son was born. Shortly after his birth, we moved to Maryland for my postdoctoral work at the National Institutes of Health. In 2009, my daughter was born. Upon finishing my postdoctoral training, our family moved to the Chicago area where I now conduct cancer research in my own laboratory at Loyola University Chicago.
