Sheryl Sandberg's touching letter on grief and choosing to "kick the shit out of option B"

Last month, Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook and one half of Silicon Valley's ultimate power couple, unexpectedly lost her husband Dave Goldberg. While on vacation, the CEO of SurveyMonkey collapsed during a workout and passed away due to head trauma. Yesterday marked the end of sheloshim, the judaic practice of deeply mourning a close relative. She wrote to give back to those that have given so much to her in these most difficult days.
I think when tragedy occurs, it presents a choice. You can give in to the void, the emptiness that fills your heart, your lungs, constricts your ability to think or even breathe. Or you can try to find meaning. These past thirty days, I have spent many of my moments lost in that void. And I know that many future moments will be consumed by the vast emptiness as well. But when I can, I want to choose life and meaning.
