Ensuring our kids are getting regular nutritious meals and snacks sets them on track for a life of good health, and that’s one of the best gifts we can offer them. That said, it’s hard for busy parents to find the time and energy to prepare nutrient-rich meals every morning. Say hello to WutsupBaby, a healthy, high-quality meal option leveraging the nutritional power of quinoa.

Overall Rating: 4.67

Rating Scale: 1-5

Innovation Rating: 5

The quinoa powder is pre-cooked so you just add your liquid of choice (water, juice, or breast milk). The individual packets are a totally portable and convenient snack option made from simple, nutritious ingredients: quinoa, fruits, and vegetables.

Usability Rating: 5

Packaged in appropriately sized 0.5-oz. easy-to-open packets, you can have breakfast made for your 6+-month-old (4+ months with the “original” option) in under three minutes while holding her in one arm. (I did this.)

Price Rating: 4

$10 – $11
With eight packets in a box, you’re essentially getting a week’s worth of breakfast options for approximately $1.25 per serving. The 0.5 oz. size is just the right amount for a single serving if you slice up some banana or mix with applesauce or yogurt. If you buy in bulk, you can find quinoa for $5 to $8/lb (~$0.25/serving). Ask yourself if the time and energy to grind, heat, cool, and mix before feeding your kiddo in the morning is worth that $1 difference. For me, it totally is.

Getting your kids in and out of the car can be a (literal) pain, and you’re going to do it thousands of times before they’re riding along without a car- or booster-seat. You’re struggling to wrangle a squirming child between the car seat’s tangled buckles and straps, and, giving up, you have to fish out the straps from underneath them – not fun for anyone. The kids grab for the buckles, but it’s a hot day, and the buckles are like branding irons. If your kids are older and riding in booster seats, you want to empower them to clip themselves in, but when the buckle is flopping around or buried between the seat back and cushion, your opportunity is lost.

Enter LulaKids’ genius parenting hacks, LulaClips and LulaBlocs.

Overall Rating: 5

rating scale: 1-5

Innovation Rating: 5

I wish I’d invented these simple, effective devices. The clip attaches to the carseat with a well-guarded safety pin so kids won’t poke themselves. The magnet on the clip has just the right amount of resistance to keep the straps out of the way. That’s all there is to the LulaClip, and it does it’s job really well. High Five!

The LulaBloc slides over the receiving end of the buckle and holds it in place so you, and your child, can always find it. It’s a simple solution to an annoying problem. Interestingly, emergency workers have found that LulaBlocs increase the ease and efficiency of removing a child from their booster seat – a very good thing, especially in emergencies.

Usability Rating: 5

Pinning a LulaClip to your car seat is simple, and it stays there firmly, once attached. Pro Tip: Get a second set of clips to use on your jogging stroller. Sliding a LulaBloc over the buckle is also a breeze and never requires re-installation or adjustment.

Price Rating: 5

$12.95 LulaClips, includes 2 clips (good for 1 car seat)
$12.95 LulaBlocs, includes 2 blocks (good for 2 buckles)
At $13, this seems like a no-brainer price to pay for making your daily schlep just a little easier.

Three Lollies | Preggie Pops

If you’re experiencing nausea, pregnant or not, it’s time to give these pops/drops a try.

Three Lollies | Preggie Pops

Visit threelollies.com to learn more
Nearly 75 percent of pregnant women will experience nausea during the first trimester, with a smaller but still substantial number of women coping with lasting nausea beyond that. While the exact cause isn’t clearly identified, most health professionals would agree that hormonal shifts (hCG, estrogen), sensitivity to odor, sensitive stomach, and stress are all probable suspects.

Many different nausea remedies are recommended among mothers, including acupuncture, carbonated sodas, and aromatherapy. Two of the most common remedies are ginger and vitamin B6, also the magic ingredients in Three Lollies’ Preggie Pops.

If you’re experiencing nausea, pregnant or not, it’s time to give these pops and drops a try.

Overall Rating: 3.33

Rating Scale: 1-5

Innovation Rating: 2

The pops and drops are essentially a hard candy, like a Jolly Rancher. Pregnant women might be most interested in the ginger flavor made with essential oils or the Preggie Naturals, loaded with vitamin B6 (10 mg). There’s nothing particularly innovative about the product, but what you need when you’re nauseous and pregnant is not innovation – it’s relief.

Usability Rating: 3

You can carry dozens of these with you wherever you go, so you’re prepared when the rolling stomach and dizziness strikes. Just pop one into your mouth to quell the churn.

For those concerned about ingesting refined sugars and corn syrups, this product may not be for you. The relationship between sugar and nausea is a complex and individual one. While sugar might stimulate relief for one person, it can trigger nausea in another. Make the best decision for you.

Price Rating: 5

$4.50
There are many women out there who swear by Preggie Pops as their go-to stomach soother. At this price, why not give it a try?

But reaching your breastfeeding goals can be challenging and sometimes out of your control given the physical and emotional changes new moms experience. Why not invest in a breast pump that’s going to make life better for you, your baby, and your partner?

Overall Rating: 5

Rating scale 1-5

Innovation Rating: 5

The SpeCtra 9 Plus is literally the size of 2 iPhones in cases, back to back. It’s as quiet as it is small with a rechargeable battery that will run for three hours (6 – 9 pumping sessions). With a massage feature to stimulate let-down, this pump mimics baby suckling until you switch to the expression feature, creating a strong baby-like draw. Finally, as a closed system, this pump prevents any unwanted breast milk backflow in the collection kit.

Usability Rating: 5

With the 9 Plus, you’re not hooked up to a wall. Think of it as free-range mothering. The 4-button interface (on/off, massage, vacuum up, and vacuum down) is uncomplicated and user friendly, allowing for easy adjustments as you go. Gentle without compromising effectiveness, the 9 Plus is a steady, mobile nursing solution. Plus, with backflow protection, there’s no need to struggle with tube cleaning in the collection kit.

Price Rating: 5

$199 (regularly $250)
Numbers aside, the 9 Plus from SpeCtraBaby is the ideal pump for multifaceted moms interested in finding the perfect nursing-and-pumping balance.

Snuggle Me Organic | Co-Sleeper/Lounger

Your baby longs for a safe, warm, and secure place to rest, this great product helps recreate that environment!

[su_button url=”https://www.facebook.com/pg/HelloParentCo/videos/?ref=page_internal” target=”blank” style=”flat” background=”#ffffff” color=”#395a7c” size=”7″ center=”yes” radius=”0″ icon=”icon: arrow-circle-right” icon_color=”#fa4c40″]See more Product Review videos on Facebook![/su_button]

Snuggle Me Organic Co-Sleeper

Visit SnuggleMe.com for more details
Introduction to the world is jarring for a fresh baby. With the warm, cradled experience of the womb suddenly gone, new babies yearn for a soothing, secure transition. The Snuggle Me assists in that transition by recreating the feeling of being nestled in the womb and helping baby feel safe, warm, and secure for the first six months.

Overall: 4.33

RATING SCALE 1 – 5

Innovation Rating: 5

In a competitive market for co-sleeper/loungers, Snuggle Me rises to the top with it’s totally simple, one-of-a-kind, snuggle technology. Baby’s natural weight presses down into the center (mattress pad-free) fabric, which gently pulls the sides of the Snuggle Me in to cradle baby’s sides and keep him safely on his back.

Usability Rating: 5

From the moment I laid my baby down in the Snuggle Me it was clear she felt secure. I’m confident its continued use in our household was beneficial in creating the sleep routine that has had my daughter sleeping through the night since 10 weeks. (She’s now seven months old). I can’t wait to purchase a fun, new slipcover and pass the Snuggle Me onto my friends who are expecting next March.

Price Rating: 3

$120 – $320
It’s expensive. However, you can purchase a no-frills Snuggle Me that serves its purpose for considerably less than the trendier competitor. If you want to go with organic fabric and organic fill, you’re looking at $220. Add a wool slipcover and compostability to the mix and you can come in at $320. In my mind, this is must-include item on your baby registry.

Bambino Mio | Miosolo – Cloth Diaper

The diaper has come a long way in the last century. Bambino Mio leads the way in diaper education and innovation with their stylish cloth diapers.

The diaper has come a long way in the last century. Bambino Mio leads the way in diaper education and innovation, affording parents of un-potty trained children the financial, environmental, and emotional ROI that comes with the decision to use cloth diapers.

Overall: 4

RATING SCALE 1 – 5

Innovation Rating: 4

The Miosolo is an all-in-one nappy. It’s also one size, meaning the adjustable snaps and soft velcro fasteners will keep a single diaper in-play (washed between uses, of course) until your kid is potty trained. Hidden in the diaper is a super-absorbent core with an easy pull-out tab system, which makes removal of the core for cleaning super simple. This also improves washing performance and drying time. Meanwhile, the “stay-dry” inner layer keeps baby’s skin cool and dry.

Usability Rating: 4

The Miosolo is easy to put on, washes well, and dries quickly. It is a little bulky and takes up space in the diaper bag. Like all cloth diapers it requires a mobile diaper pail/bag, which also takes up space. That said, I still really appreciate the functional design of the Miosolo and have not experienced any leaking, even in prolonged-wear situations.

Price Rating: 4

$20.00
For a single diaper, this might seem expensive, although its price point is on par with other major cloth diaper brands. The best bet is to buy a set of diapers. Five diapers saves you 10 percent, 10 diapers save you 15 percent, and 20 diapers saves you 20 percent.

Ems for Kids protective baby earmuffs

Overall Rating: 4.6

rating scale 1 – 5

Innovation: 5

Replacing the classic plastic horseshoe band found on most hearing protection devices with a stylish, adjustable, elastic band is genius for three reasons: 1. It distributes pressure evenly across baby’s head, rather than squeezing uncomfortably at the temples. 2. It allows the hearing protection device to adjust as baby’s head and brain continue to grow and develop. 3. It’s smaller, and thus more portable than any other option on the market.

Usability: 4

Small enough to fit in a coat pocket and space saver in a diaper bag, the Baby Earmuffs are the easy option for babies under 18 months of age. The actual earmuff portion of the Baby Earmuffs slip onto the elastic headband – sometimes they fight you a little bit, but they always eventually land in the right spot. Once on, they’re awesome. This “snug seat for tired feet” attaches directly to the front of your carry-on rolling suitcase and keeps your toddler cozy, rested, and safe.

Overall: 3.75

RATING SCALE 1 – 5

Innovation Rating: 5

With the addition of a few straps and clips, Lugabug totally transforms a popular camping chair design into a one-of-a-kind, multi-purpose travel wagon for kids. .

Usability Rating: 4

It takes a little practice to get the seat tension adjusted just right and transition from stillness to rolling along. That said, for its intended purpose, the Lugabug performs exactly as expected. Minimum age: 2 years. Maximum weight: 60 lbs.

Price Rating: 2

$64
*UPDATE (Nov. 2017): The Lugabug is Made in the USA, thus the current price point. The team at Lugabug has notified us they’ve been working hard to bring the price down on their product line, and we should see a shift starting in early 2018. We can’t wait for more people to have access to such a great design.
Although the Lugabug is a totally clever riff on a similar product (the CozyCreek camping chair), does the innovative addition of two additional straps to secure the chair to a suitcase justify the $64 price tag? Maybe not. Especially if it isn’t a daily-use item. But I still want one.
