Lately, phone calls (and now Im talking about the cell phone, Skype, or FaceTime kind, because who even has a landline anymore?) follow a lengthy procedure of text messaging to set up a phone date, often followed by subsequent texts to cancel, reschedule, and then potentially cancel again. By the time a satisfactory time has been selected, so much energy has been expended that there is undue pressure to carve out at least one hour to sit and chat. If the medium of choice is something like Skype, planning for this date also includes looking somewhat presentable for the person whos supposedly staring at you from their computer screen.
It takes a village!
